Arema FC dismisses head coach Marcos Santos

Arema FC management has officially terminated the contract of head coach Marcos Santos as of Friday, October 23, 2026. The decision follows a string of poor results, including a heavy 1-5 defeat against Persija Jakarta at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium.

General Manager Yusrinal Fitriandi stated that the dismissal was a professional response to the team's need for tactical refreshment after failing to secure a victory in five consecutive Super League matches. While Santos was in his second season with the club, management determined that the team required new momentum to improve its performance.

Fitriandi noted that the club is handling the conclusion of the partnership professionally, ensuring all administrative rights and remaining contract obligations are settled. The management also emphasized that they are considering technical, psychological, and strategic factors to stabilize the team's direction.
