Arena Brasil sports complex inaugurated in Jacobina, Brazil

On the night of 15 June 2026, Jacobina’s new sports and leisure facility, Arena Brasil, was opened in the Novo Amanhecer neighbourhood. The ceremony was attended by local officials including mayor Valdice Castro, the state sports minister Paulo Henrique Monteiro, federal deputy Léo Prates and municipal council leaders. Built through a partnership between the state government and the Jacobina municipality, the arena is named after the late Captain Assunção and features a multi‑sport court, a children’s playground and a large communal area. Officials highlighted the project’s role in improving quality of life, promoting social inclusion and providing new recreational opportunities for residents of Novo Amanhecer and surrounding districts.
