Arena dei Cedri concert in Santa Maria del Cedro draws 2,500 fans, sparks funding debate

On the evening of August 3, the newly built Arena dei Cedri in Santa Maria del Cedro hosted a concert by Italian singer Giorgia, attracting roughly 2,500 spectators and kicking off the town’s summer programme. The event was organised by De. Do. Eventi under artistic director Alfredo De Luca, with cooperation from the municipal administration, local police and municipal services.

Mayor Ugo Vetere, who also chairs the local tourism board, said the administration acted transparently, noting that the municipality allocated more than €200,000 to the organising company. While some social‑media users questioned the attendance figures and the use of public funds, officials reported no traffic disruptions and praised the smooth execution of the concert.
