Arena Katowice hosts emergency response simulation drills
Emergency services conducted large-scale simulation exercises at Arena Katowice to test crisis response procedures in a sports venue. The training scenario involved a simulated explosion during a basketball game, necessitating the evacuation of participants and medical assistance for simulated casualties.
During the drills, police patrols, firefighters, and medical responders coordinated to secure the site and manage the emergency. Specialized units, including mine and pyrotechnic experts and the criminal department of the Katowice Municipal Police, also participated. The exercises aimed to evaluate inter-agency coordination and response capabilities regarding explosive devices as well as potential chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear threats.
