Arequipa authorities increase security for Halloween celebrations
The Provincial Municipality of Arequipa is coordinating a preventive security deployment to maintain public order during Halloween and Criollo Music Day celebrations on October 31. The plan focuses on high-traffic areas in the Historic Center, specifically the Plaza de Armas and streets such as San Francisco, Ugarte, Zela, and Santa Catalina.
Multiple municipal departments, including Citizen Security, Urban Development, Transport, and Disaster Risk Management, will work alongside district communes and the National Police of Peru. The inter-institutional effort aims to prevent disorder, control informal commerce, and monitor pedestrian and vehicular traffic during peak hours. Vanessa Lizeth Rosado Torres, manager of Citizen Security, is leading the coordination of these fiscalization and patrolling measures.
