Peruvian Football Federation evaluates Arequipa as host for November matches
The Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) is evaluating Arequipa as a potential host city for the national team's matches during the FIFA dates in November. Jean Ferrari, the FPF's director of football, stated that the decision aligns with technical staff requirements to test players in high-altitude conditions. While Cusco and Puno were also considered, Arequipa is currently a leading option due to logistical and availability factors in the other cities.
On a broader scale, Peruvian football is undergoing a structural transition aimed at moving beyond reliance on individual talent toward more sustainable institutional systems. The FPF is increasing investment in youth development, highlighted by the Liga Nacional Juvenil, to create more competitive environments for emerging players and professionalize the sport's long-term management.
