Arequipa regional council profiles and mayoral training program announced

The Arequipa Regional Council has announced its representative profiles for seven provinces. The council will consist of ten members, including two former mayors, three former councilors, and five professionals. The provinces of Castilla, Caylloma, and La Unión will each have two representatives, while Camaná, Caravelí, Condesuyos, and Islay will each have one. The representatives possess diverse backgrounds in local government, public and private sectors, teaching, and engineering.

In a separate development for local governance, a free training program has been announced for mayors elected for the 2027–2030 period. Organized by RECAMBIO in collaboration with the Institute of Peruvian Studies (IEP) and supported by researchers from Harvard Business School and the Toulouse School of Economics, the program aims to provide practical tools and leadership training for municipal management. An information session will be held in Arequipa on October 12 to detail the application process for the 200 available scholarship spots.
