Arera increases gas tariffs for August
The Italian Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and Environment (Arera) has updated gas raw material tariffs for August, resulting in a 6.9 percent increase for vulnerable customers compared to July. For a typical family consuming 1,100 cubic meters annually, the reference gas price is set at 143.72 cents per cubic meter.
Consumer defense association Codacons noted that this increase brings the average annual gas bill to 1,581 euros. When combined with electricity costs, the total bill for a vulnerable user could reach 2,213.6 euros. Codacons highlighted that gas tariffs for vulnerable individuals are 33.8 percent higher than in August 2025, representing an annual expenditure increase of approximately 400 euros per user.
