ARESEP launches digital tools to verify water service charges

The Public Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP) has launched two digital tools to help users verify water service charges and manage complaints.

A new tariff calculator allows citizens to review costs for aqueduct, sewerage, hydrants, and water resource protection services based on authorized rates. The tool covers current tariffs for the Costa Rican Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (AyA), the Heredia Public Services Company (ESPH), and Communal Aqueduct and Sewerage System Administrator Associations (Asadas). Users can check rates for residential, commercial, industrial, and preferential categories by selecting their province, canton, and service operator.

Additionally, the ‘ARESEP Contigo’ mobile application is available for Android and Apple devices. The app features an interactive map to consult information on service operators, contact details, and quality regulatory seals. It also enables users to submit inquiries or complaints directly to service providers. Jorge Sanarrucia, ARESEP’s Water Superintendent, stated that these tools will allow citizens to verify their charges and report issues directly to operators.
