Arevon Energy launches 300-MW Nighthawk battery project in California

Arevon Energy has announced the commencement of commercial operations for its Nighthawk Energy Storage Project in Poway, California. The 300-MW/1,200-MWh facility is the largest standalone battery storage project in Arevon’s portfolio.

The project utilizes Tesla Megapack lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology, consisting of 329 integrated container units. This battery chemistry is noted for its safety and long operating lifespan. The system is designed to store electricity during periods of low demand and dispatch it during peak usage, providing enough energy to power approximately 385,000 homes for up to four hours.

Operating under a long-term agreement with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), the project aims to support California’s clean energy and grid reliability goals. Additionally, the facility is expected to generate over $30 million in property tax revenue over its lifetime to support local community services and public safety.
