Italy observes various religious and cultural traditions

Various religious and cultural traditions are being observed across Italy. In Genazzano, Pope Leo XIV is scheduled to visit the sanctuary of the Madonna del Buon Consiglio on September 7 to celebrate the Eucharist and inaugurate a new painting. This visit marks a return to a site with deep personal and historical ties for the Pontiff.

In Arezzo, the 150th Giostra del Saracino is underway, a historic tournament celebrating the 1276 Conclave. The competition involves four districts—Porta Sant’Andrea, Santo Spirito, Foro, and Crucifera—with Porta Santo Spirito currently leading in historical victories.

Other regional observances include the feast of San Pio in San Giovanni Rotondo, featuring a novena and liturgical celebrations themed around Saint Francis. In Milazzo, the Festa della Madonna del Tindari includes religious services and musical performances. Other local festivities include the Madonna della Pietà in Rocca di Neto, the feast of Santa Lucia in Venasca, the Madonna del Rimedio in Oristano, and the feast of Maria Santissima Vergine dell’Olmo in Cava de’ Tirreni.
