Arganil, Portugal boosts local gastronomy and recycling initiatives
The municipality of Arganil organised a week‑long gastronomic festival, "Sabores de CÁ", from 16 to 24 May. Participating restaurants offered traditional regional dishes and a voucher lottery worth a total of €1,000. Winners were drawn on 27 May.
In parallel, Arganil highlighted the results of its door‑to‑door selective waste‑collection system (PPRUVA). In 2025 the scheme gathered 245 tonnes of recyclable material – 181 tonnes of paper and cardboard and 64 tonnes of plastic and metal – and generated €73,990 in revenue for the local social‑inclusion agency. About 750 households and businesses take part, and the programme was previously honoured in the 2020 Planetiers Awards for its innovative environmental and social impact.
