Argeș: 19 town halls face budget risks over digital registration delay

Nineteen town halls in Argeș County have not yet registered on the national Ghișeul.ro platform, despite a legal obligation to do so. The deadline for enrollment is August 25, 2026. Failure to comply may result in financial consequences for these local administrations, including the suspension of certain state budget allocations, such as portions of income tax and funds intended for local budget balancing.

Nationally, 919 out of 3,187 town halls remain unregistered, preventing approximately 2.5 million Romanians from accessing digital administrative services. This lack of integration forces citizens to travel physically to town halls for services that could otherwise be completed online. Vice Premier Oana Gheorghiu has called for an acceleration of the local administration digitalization process to address these limitations.
