Argeș authorities arrest three men following synthetic cannabinoid death
Three men in Argeș, Romania, have been arrested following the death of a 26-year-old man linked to the consumption of synthetic cannabinoids. According to DIICOT, the investigation revealed a drug trafficking scheme involving ADB-BUTINACA.
Prosecutors allege that in the summer of 2025, a 36-year-old man currently in prison provided the synthetic cannabinoid to a 27-year-old associate. The substance was intended for sale to various clients, with the proceeds meant to be sent back to the individual in detention. On October 31, 2025, the 27-year-old allegedly sold a portion of the substance to another man.
The victim was found dead on November 1, 2025, in Mioveni. A necropsy determined the cause of death to be acute cardiorespiratory failure due to pulmonary thromboembolic phenomena, which investigators suggest may have been facilitated by the consumption of synthetic cannabinoids.
