Argentina advances construction of regional hemotherapy centers
Argentina is advancing the development of regional hemotherapy centers to strengthen its public health blood supply networks.
In Tucumán, the provincial government is resuming construction of the Regional Hemotherapy Center near the 107 Emergency Services facilities. The project, which had previously been suspended due to the interruption of national government funding, will now be managed by the province. The new facility aims to improve the availability and security of blood and its components through modern infrastructure and specialized laboratories.
In the City of Buenos Aires, the Ministry of Health is entering the final stages of constructing a new Regional Hemotherapy Center adjacent to Hospital Tornú. The 2,617-square-meter facility will span four levels and is designed to optimize the entire circuit of blood donation, processing, storage, and distribution. The center will include specialized laboratories for immunohematology, serology, quality control, and molecular biology, as well as dedicated areas for donor care and cold storage.
