Argentina agricultural report: Wheat sowing concludes as moisture improves

Agricultural activities in Argentina are seeing mixed progress due to weather conditions. Wheat sowing for the 2026 cycle has concluded, covering the projected 6.5 million hectares. Although poor soil conditions during the planting window prevented an expansion of the total area, improved soil moisture reserves have raised production expectations, with 90.8% of the area reporting adequate to optimal water conditions.

Sunflower planting has reached 16.7% of the projected 3 million hectares for the 2026/27 cycle. While recent rains in the Northeast (NEA) slowed the pace of work, current progress remains ahead of historical averages. Meanwhile, the corn harvest for commercial grain has reached 88% of the suitable area, with an average yield of 78 quintals per hectare, benefiting from recent favorable environmental conditions.
