Argentina agricultural yields and planting progress improve
Agricultural reports from Argentina indicate positive trends for wheat production and a resumption of planting for summer crops. Wheat yields are projected to exceed the average of the last five seasons, with 64% of the crop in good to excellent condition due to adequate to optimal water availability. While some frost damage is still being assessed, the outlook remains encouraging, particularly in the northern and western agricultural regions.
Recent rainfall has also revitalized the planting of maize and sunflower crops, especially in the north-central region of Santa Fe. The moisture recovery has allowed for the resumption of early maize and sunflower sowing, which were previously delayed. Maize planting for the 2026/27 commercial season has reached 29.9% of the projected 8.4 million hectares, showing a 5-point increase compared to the previous campaign. While most areas show favorable conditions, some parts of northwestern Santa Fe continue to show symptoms of water deficit.
