Argentina agriculture sees record yields and wheat supply constraints

Argentina is experiencing significant shifts in its agricultural sector, characterized by record-breaking yields in some regions and tightening wheat supplies in others.

In the province of Entre Ríos, grain production for the 2025/26 campaign reached 10,025,570 tons, marking the highest production level in 25 years. This represents a 20 percent increase over the previous cycle. According to the Bolsa de Cereales de Entre Ríos, the planted area grew to 2.68 million hectares, a 10 percent year-on-year increase.

Simultaneously, the wheat market faces supply constraints. Analysis from Kimei Cereales indicates that 8.3 million tons of wheat for the 2025/26 period have yet to enter the commercial circuit. While reference prices for wheat in Rosario are around 220 USD per ton, industrial demand for high-quality bread wheat is driving prices as high as 300 USD per ton in certain sectors, as millers seek specific protein and gluten attributes.
