Argentina agro-industry reaches record US$ 37.5 billion in exports

Argentina's agro-industrial sector has reached a record export value of US$ 37,525 million between January and August 2026, representing a 13% increase in value and a 10% increase in volume compared to the previous year. Key growth drivers include beef, sunflower oil, and various specialty foods.

Despite these agricultural successes, the broader economy faces challenges. Industrial activity fell by 4.2% in August, with significant declines in the automotive and metalworking sectors. Economic reports indicate a growing divergence where export-oriented sectors like agriculture and mining thrive, while domestic-facing industries, commerce, and construction struggle with low demand and rising informality.

Looking ahead, the Bolsa de Comercio de Rosario projects a strong 2026/27 grain harvest of approximately 155.8 million tons, potentially driven by El Niño weather patterns. However, economists warn that the lack of investment and stagnant wages may hinder sustainable long-term recovery.
