Argentina agro-industry sees record exports and high future projections
Argentina's agro-industrial sector is experiencing significant growth in both current exports and future projections. Data from the first eight months of 2026 shows a record-breaking period where 84.26 million tons were exported, valued at US$ 37,525 million. This represents a 10% increase in volume and a 13% increase in value compared to the same period in 2025. Notable growth was seen in beef, sunflower oil, and sunflower seeds, with 126 different products reaching decade-high export amounts.
Looking ahead, the Bolsa de Comercio de Rosario (BCR) projects that the sector could contribute approximately US$ 40,000 million to the free exchange market during 2027. This would be the second-highest historical record, trailing only the 2022 figures. This projection is supported by an estimated grain harvest of 156 million tons for the 2026/27 campaign and rising international prices for corn, wheat, and soy, driven by global supply constraints and geopolitical tensions.
