Argentina flu vaccination drives hit 430,000 in Santa Fe as coverage falls nationwide
The Province of Santa Fe’s health ministry reported that 430,772 influenza vaccine doses were administered between March and June, a 21 % increase over the same period last year and covering more than half of the targeted population. The largest numbers were among people aged 2‑64 with risk factors (154,071 doses), seniors 65 + (140,935), and health‑care workers (50,846). The campaign remains free at public health centres.
In Entre Ríos, the provincial health authority said 192,196 doses have been given so far. Of these, 75,909 were seniors aged 65 +, 59,094 adults 2‑64 with risk factors, 6,957 pregnant women and 19,085 health‑care staff.
National health officials warned of a sharp decline in routine immunisation across Argentina. The doctors’ association cited data showing that more than 101,000 children have never received any vaccine from the national calendar, and that only 46 % of children have completed the second dose of the triple‑viral vaccine, while 75 % have received the triple‑bacterial dose. Despite the low coverage, provincial ministries confirmed that there are no shortages of influenza vaccines in public facilities.
