Valledupar 2026 Parasul-American Games draw Brazilian, Argentine and Chilean delegations

The 2026 Parasul-American Games open in Valledupar, Colombia on 2 July, featuring a range of para‑sports across the region. Brazil’s men’s and women’s sitting‑volleyball teams depart for the tournament on 1 July, with a schedule that includes matches against Peru, Colombia, Argentina and Venezuela through 6 July. Brazil also fields a strong paralympic weightlifting trio from Praia Clube – Marco Túlio, Tayana Medeiros and Edilândia Araújo – aiming to add more titles.

Argentina’s paracycling pair, guided tandem rider Ludmila Posse and athlete Florencia Romero, have arrived in Valledupar to compete in the South American championships that serve as a qualifier for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games.

Half of Chile’s Para‑Chile team is training in Colombia, acclimatising to heat and humidity ahead of the Games. As Lucas Valenzuela, head of the Chilean mission, noted, “Cada uno de los equipos se han adaptado muy bien al calor y a la alta humedad que hay en Colombia por estos días.” The Chilean squad includes athletes in goalball, wheelchair basketball, para‑table tennis and powerlifting, with the wheelchair‑basketball women’s team set to face Peru on opening day.
