Argentina and Chile report significant export and trade growth
Argentina is aiming for record export levels, with projections suggesting sales could exceed US$100 billion this year and potentially reach US$180 billion by 2035. Key growth drivers include energy, agroindustry, mining, and the knowledge economy. Following a decline in 2023 due to drought, the country is working to regain its standing in global trade, currently ranking 46th among major exporters.
Chile has reported a historic trade surplus of US$25.721 billion for the first nine months of 2026, surpassing the previous record set in 2007. Exports reached a record US$93.837 billion, an 18.5% increase compared to the previous year. This growth was driven largely by the mining sector, which accounted for 62.7% of total exports, with copper alone generating US$49.247 billion.
