Brazil's Sports Minister Presents 2027 Women's World Cup Regulatory Framework to FIFA
On Friday 5 June, Brazil's Sports Minister Paulo Henrique Cordeiro met FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Miami, United States, to deliver the regulatory framework for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The framework, sanctioned by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on 2 June, outlines legal and organisational standards for the tournament, which will be held in Brazil from 24 June to 25 July 2027.
The minister confirmed eight Brazilian host cities: Rio de Janeiro (Maracanã), Salvador (Arena Fonte Nova), São Paulo (Neo Química Arena), Belo Horizonte (Mineirão), Brasília (Arena Mané Garrincha), Fortaleza (Arena Castelão), Porto Alegre (Beira‑Rio) and Recife (Arena de Pernambuco). Infantino said, “Teremos um impacto mundial incrível, que vai mudar o esporte feminino, porque será no Brasil.”
In parallel, the South‑American qualifiers progressed, with Argentina and Colombia securing their World Cup spots after the penultimate round of matches, needing only a draw to guarantee qualification. Ten other nations have already qualified, including Australia, China, North Korea, South Korea, the Philippines, Japan, New Zealand and Germany.
