The Consumer Price Index for the City of Buenos Aires (CPI‑BA) rose to 2.9% in July 2026, up from 1.8% in June. The year‑on‑year rate reached 33.2% and the index has accumulated a 19.4% increase over the first seven months of the year. The surge was driven mainly by services: restaurants and hotels (+5.3%), recreation and culture (+5.8%), transport (+3.1%), housing utilities (+2.7%) and food and non‑alcoholic beverages (+1.9%).

Rental prices in the capital also climbed, with a 1.6% month‑on‑month increase in July and a 17.5% rise since the start of 2026, still below the overall inflation rate. The most expensive districts for rentals were Puerto Madero, Núñez and Palermo, while Lugano, Nueva Pompeya and Versalles recorded the lowest rents.

A separate consumer‑price basket for basic food items in Buenos Aires showed a 1.67% increase in July, bringing the cumulative gain since January to 20.84%. The same basket in La Plata rose 0.9% month‑on‑month, indicating persistent pressure on fresh produce and vegetables.
