Argentina and Colombia University Athletes Depart for 2026 FISU America Games in Lima
A delegation of 14 athletes from the National University of La Plata (UNLP) in Argentina travelled to Lima, Peru, to compete in the IV FISU America Games. The Argentine team will represent the country in athletics, men's and women's basketball, rugby sevens, beach volleyball, swimming, volleyball and handball after a training period and a farewell ceremony at UNLP.
Four athletes from Colombia's Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia (UPTC) are also heading to Lima with full institutional and financial support from regional sports authorities. They will compete in track events and beach volleyball, aiming for medals at the continent's premier university sports tournament.
Both delegations view the Games as a key platform for international competition and Olympic preparation, and their participation underscores the growing emphasis on university sport across South America.
