Argentina and Dominican Republic sign sports tourism pact
Argentina and the Dominican Republic have signed a bilateral agreement to promote sports tourism and cultural-gastronomic initiatives. Formalized during the Latin American International Travel Fair in Buenos Aires, the pact aims to generate recurring visitor arrivals by sharing expertise in disciplines such as surfing, polo, golf, and padel.
Dominican Tourism Minister David Collado and Argentine Secretary of Tourism Daniel Scioli announced the initiative, which includes hosting invitational sporting events in both nations. To support these efforts, a promotional summit will be held in Miami before the end of December to present the joint projects to US travel agents and tour operators.
The collaboration follows a significant increase in travel between the two nations, with Argentina becoming the third-largest source market for tourists to the Dominican Republic. Argentine arrivals reached 440,000 in 2025 and are projected to reach 500,000 in 2026.
