Argentina and Ecuador boost cattle productivity with training and artificial insemination programs

The Argentine National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA), together with RENATRE and UATRE, held two-day training sessions on July 1‑2 in Villa Mercedes and San Luis. The courses taught low‑stress bovine handling techniques, emphasizing animal welfare, worker safety, meat quality and farm profitability. Participants learned practical tools such as the “zone of escape” and visual cues to move cattle without fear, and were advised to replace electric prods with flags and avoid isolation and dog use.

In Ecuador’s Manabí province, the Prefecture launched an artificial‑insemination campaign targeting more than 8,000 bovines. The initiative, part of the "Manabí se Reactiva" program, aims to benefit around 1,500 producers through hands‑on training in the 34 Producer Schools. Practices include timed fixed‑interval artificial insemination, reproductive diagnostics with ultrasound and ongoing technical assistance, seeking to raise productivity, sustainability and rural incomes.
