Argentina and Ecuador introduce teacher participation rules without salary impact

The San Juan provincial legislature approved a law that lets the Ministry of Education summon public and private‑sector teachers to design and evaluate educational programs, curricula and training projects. Participation is voluntary, and the law guarantees that teachers' wages, career progression and employment conditions will not be altered while they work on these initiatives.

In Ecuador, a new ministerial agreement sets out compensation for teachers who work on Saturday extracurricular events such as sports competitions, academic contests or civic parades. The extra hours are not mandatory and will be rewarded with additional leave taken during holidays or annual leave, with no fixed limit on the number of compensated days. Schools must coordinate the schedules with teachers and parents, and the arrangements are overseen by school rectors and district human‑resources departments.
