Argentina and U.S. launch $7 billion Andes-Atlantic Corridor

Argentina and the United States have launched the Andes-Atlantic Corridor, a strategic initiative designed to modernize infrastructure and strengthen economic ties. The agreement, signed in New York, aims to facilitate up to $7 billion in investments through 2027, targeting critical sectors including energy, transport, mining, and digital infrastructure.

A primary focus of the corridor is connecting Argentina’s resource-rich regions, such as the Vaca Muerta shale formation and the lithium and copper-rich northwest, to Atlantic ports and Western markets. This includes planned improvements to railways, waterways, ports, pipelines, and electrical grids.

To support these developments, the U.S. Export-Import Bank (EXIM) has issued a non-binding indicative financing proposal of up to $6 billion specifically for the Argentina LNG project, a major natural gas export initiative involving YPF, Eni, and XRG. The broader financing framework will utilize tools from the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) to mobilize both public and private capital.
