Argentina animal shelter finds dog left with heartfelt letter

An animal shelter in Monte Grande, Argentina, named El Campito, recently discovered an 11-year-old dog named Zoe left at their entrance. The dog was accompanied by food and a handwritten letter from its owner.

The owner, a retired elderly man living on minimum welfare benefits, explained in the letter that he was forced to surrender the dog because his new landlord does not allow pets. He expressed deep emotional distress, stating, “I love her, but I really can’t keep her anymore.”

Shelter volunteers noted that Zoe has lived with her owner since she was 45 days old and remains in good health despite her age. While many people have offered to adopt Zoe or provide financial support, the shelter is primarily seeking to contact the original owner to offer support and understanding rather than judgment.
