Spain publishes official 2027 labor calendar and holiday schedule

The Spanish Official State Gazette (BOE) has published the official labor calendar for 2027. The schedule establishes nine national holidays that are common across all of Spain, including New Year's Day, Good Friday, Labor Day, National Day of Spain, All Saints' Day, Constitution Day, Immaculate Conception, and Christmas. Epiphany (January 6) is also a national holiday, though autonomous communities have the option to substitute it with a traditional local celebration.

Regional variations exist across the country. For instance, most autonomous communities, excluding Catalonia and the Valencian Community, will observe Holy Thursday on March 25. In the Region of Murcia, workers will observe 14 holidays, including local dates in Lorca. In Salamanca, the calendar includes 14 holidays, such as the regional holiday for Castilla y León. In the Balearic Islands, the calendar allows for a five-day break during Holy Week due to the inclusion of Easter Monday.

The 2027 calendar offers several long weekends, particularly in January, March, November, and December. However, some holidays, such as Labor Day and Christmas, fall on Saturdays, which may affect the availability of long weekends depending on regional decisions.
