Argentina: ANSES updates pension and unemployment benefits

The National Social Security Administration (ANSES) has announced updates to pension payments and unemployment benefits in Argentina. For November, pension increases will be calculated based on the September Consumer Price Index (IPC), which recorded a 1.9% rise.

Under this adjustment, the minimum pension will reach $444,023.73. When combined with the existing $70,000 extraordinary bonus, the total monthly payment for minimum pensioners will be $514,027.73. The maximum pension is set to reach $2,999,095.17, though it does not include the $70,000 bonus. Non-contributory pensions and the Universal Allowances for the Elderly (PUAM) will also receive the increase.

Regarding unemployment benefits, eligible workers can receive up to $383,800. This benefit is available to permanent, eventual, or seasonal workers who meet specific contribution requirements, excluding those who resigned voluntarily or are public employees.

Additionally, ANSES clarified the distinction between the $70,000 extraordinary bonus and the 'minimum benefit supplement.' The latter is a legal guarantee under Law 24.241 designed to ensure that no pensioner receives an amount below the legal threshold, acting as an automatic compensation rather than a temporary subsidy.
