Argentina authorities evict illegal occupants from properties in Mendoza and Buenos Aires

In Mendoza, the Ministry of Security and Justice, together with the Provincial Police’s Capital Operational Unit and municipal officials, reclaimed a privately owned lot at the intersection of Avenida España and Las Cubas. Eight adults and three children were identified via biometric data and removed, allowing the owner to begin demolition of containers and signage and to resume planned construction. The city’s social assistance teams were tasked with finding safe housing for the displaced occupants.

In Buenos Aires, city police executed a court‑ordered operation in the Floresta neighbourhood, restoring a house that had been occupied for four years. The raid uncovered a clandestine textile workshop equipped with eight sewing machines. The operation is part of a broader city policy that has restituted 901 properties since December 2023, a move highlighted by Governor Jorge Macri’s statement that illegal occupations will not be tolerated.
