Argentina authorities raid clinic in investigation of gynecologist Gustavo Kumiega

Judicial authorities in Chaco, Argentina, have intensified their investigation into gynecologist Gustavo Kumiega following multiple allegations of medical malpractice, fraud, serious injury, and obstetric and reproductive violence.

In a recent operation ordered by Prosecutor Mariana Echarri of Fiscal Team No. 6, police raided the Sanatorio Sarmiento and its laboratory. The raid resulted in the seizure of biological material deemed vital for ongoing scientific forensic analysis. The operation involved the Cybercrime and Human Trafficking divisions of the provincial police.

To manage the growing number of complaints, the prosecution has established an interdisciplinary expert body. This team, composed of professionals from the Institute of Forensic Medicine and Sciences and the Interdisciplinary Adult Team, will conduct medical, psychological, and psychiatric evaluations. The measure aims to provide specialized technical analysis while preventing the re-victimization of complainants by coordinating evaluations and applying reinforced due diligence standards.
