Argentina automotive market sees registration decline in August

The Argentine automotive market experienced a slowdown in August, with 44,415 new vehicle registrations recorded, representing a 19.1% decrease compared to August of the previous year and a 1.5% decline from July. For the first eight months of the year, cumulative registrations reached 385,091 units, down 13.3% year-over-year.

Toyota maintained its leadership in the monthly rankings with 7,247 units, followed by Volkswagen and Fiat. In terms of specific models, the Toyota Hilux remained the most registered vehicle with 2,616 units, followed by the Ford Ranger. The Toyota Yaris Cross emerged as a top performer in the SUV category, surpassing the Fiat Cronos in August sales.

In the heavy commercial segment, Chinese manufacturer Foton has seen significant growth, becoming the most demanded brand for heavy commercial vehicles in August. The Foton Auman outperformed established models from Mercedes-Benz and IVECO, driven by competitive pricing, technology, and vehicles that are ready for immediate operational use in sectors such as construction and logistics.
