Argentina's June 2026 auto market shows used‑car surge amid new‑car slump
The Cámara del Comercio Automotor (CCA) reported that 155,492 used vehicles were sold in Argentina in June 2026, an 8.6 % increase over the same month a year earlier and the strongest monthly total of the year. Over the first half of 2026, used‑car transactions reached 891,628, down 2.9 % from the comparable period in 2025. The province of La Río recorded the highest month‑over‑month growth at 26.2 %, while Santiago del Estero was the only region with a decline. Volkswagen’s Gol and Trend models led sales with 8,135 units, followed by Toyota Hilux and Chevrolet Corsa.
In contrast, the Asociación de Concesionarios de Automotores de la República Argentina (ACARA) said new‑car registrations fell 12.8 % in June 2026 versus June 2025, with the first‑half total down 9.9 % year‑on‑year. Average daily sales slipped 3 % from May and 25 % from June 2025. Passenger car sales dropped 17.9 % YoY, and light commercial vehicles were 11.8 % lower for the semester. Agricultural machinery registrations also declined sharply, with combine harvesters falling 50 % month‑on‑month.
Dealerships noted a strong rise in motorcycle registrations, though they cautioned that the growth may be overstated.
