Automotive markets show mixed trends in Argentina and Colombia

Automotive markets in Argentina and Colombia showed divergent trends in September 2026. In Argentina, vehicle registrations reached 49,814 units, marking a 10.7% increase from August but an 11.4% decline compared to September 2025. Despite the year-to-date contraction of 13%, Sebastián Beato, president of ACARA, suggested a “change in trend” as the market deceleration appears to have paused. A significant shift is noted in market composition, with imported vehicles now accounting for approximately 69% of registrations due to increased trade openness and the arrival of Asian brands. Toyota remains the market leader, with the Hilux being the most registered model.

Conversely, the motorcycle sector in Argentina experienced robust growth, with 80,113 units registered, a 35.1% increase year-on-year. Honda led the motorcycle market, while the Honda Wave 110S was the most popular model.

In Colombia, the motorcycle market saw a significant surge, growing 23.6% in September 2026 to reach 127,098 new units. Suzuki took the lead in the national market with 20,067 units, representing a 15.8% market share and a 29.6% year-on-year increase, surpassing Bajaj.
