Argentina banks and oilseed workers see salaries rise above 2.5 million pesos

The Argentine Banking Association announced a 2.1% wage update that pushed the sector’s entry‑level salary past 2.5 million pesos per month. The increase follows an inflation‑linked formula agreed with employer groups and the government’s INDEC price index, keeping banking salaries among the highest in the formal economy.

In the oilseed (aceitera) industry, negotiations remain unresolved. The Chamber of the Oilseed Industry (CIARA) offered a monthly automatic raise tied to the INDEC CPI, but major unions (FTCIODyARA and SOEA) rejected the proposal, insisting on a legally defined minimum wage of roughly 2.34 million pesos. The stalemate threatens further port disruptions, with the mandatory conciliation period set to expire in mid‑June.

Both sectors illustrate the broader Argentine push to protect workers’ purchasing power through inflation‑indexed wage mechanisms.
