Argentina beats Jordan 3-1 as Messi scores free‑kick in World Cup group match

Argentina defeated Jordan 3-1 in Group J of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Giovani Lo Celso opened the scoring in the 19th minute, Lautaro Martínez doubled the lead after converting a penalty in the 31st. Lionel Messi entered in the 60th minute and netted a direct free‑kick in the 80th minute – his sixth World Cup goal and 19th overall.

The victory placed Argentina top of Group J, while Jordan finished without points and are eliminated. Argentina will meet Cabo Verde in the round of 16 on 4 July.
