Argentina Chamber of Deputies begins 2027 Budget debate

The Argentine Chamber of Deputies began debating the 2027 Budget proposal on Tuesday, October 13. Secretary of the Treasury Carlos Guberman is set to present the project's guidelines to the Budget and Finance Commission.

The proposal focuses on maintaining fiscal equilibrium. However, the ruling La Libertad Avanza party, which holds 95 deputies, requires at least 129 votes to reach a quorum, necessitating negotiations with allies and provincial governors.

Key fiscal constraints include the fact that approximately 70% of the budget is already committed to social programs, pensions, and other state obligations. The debate is also expected to address provincial demands for public works funding, university financing, and disability benefits, the latter of which could have a fiscal impact of approximately $600,000 million.
