Argentina car registrations fall 15% in June while motorcycles surge
In June 2026 Argentine automobile registrations dropped 15.1% year‑on‑year to 31,127 units, marking the second‑worst monthly decline of the year and contributing to a 9.3% fall in total car registrations for the first half of the year. Imports dominated the market, accounting for 84.8% of newly registered cars.
Motorcycle registrations, by contrast, jumped 45% year‑on‑year to 69,439 units, with 96.7% of those motorcycles produced locally. The northern province of Jujuy recorded the strongest motorcycle growth, up 461.3% from the previous year. Other vehicle categories showed mixed results, with modest gains in transport and cargo vehicles and notable increases in coupled units and agricultural machinery.
Overall vehicle registrations for all categories totaled 364,433 units, up 13.6% year‑on‑year, but the automotive segment’s decline reflects broader challenges in Argentina’s consumer durable market.
