Argentina cattle thefts spark farmer's protest over police inaction

A cattle producer near the city of Loma Negra reported that unknown individuals slaughtered two pregnant cows, each weighing about 600 kg and valued at roughly 2.6 million Argentine pesos. The farmer said this follows previous losses, including two sheep and a steer a week earlier, and a total of 20 animals taken over recent years.

He criticized the local Subcomisaría de Loma Negra for lacking a functional telephone line for a month, for the absence of regular patrols on Provincial Route 51, and for not providing a copy of his latest complaint. The farmer also noted that only a single police officer, not a forensic team, has visited the site. Feeling ignored, he made the situation public to pressure authorities for a response.
