Neuquén leads Argentina in private job growth and company creation
During the Neuquén Day 2026 forum in Buenos Aires, Neuquén Governor Rolando Figueroa and Economy Minister Guillermo Koenig presented the province's economic growth and investment strategies. Neuquén was highlighted as the only Argentine province to increase its number of companies, adding 148 new firms, and leading the nation in private job creation with nearly 11,000 new positions, a 7.6% increase.
Minister Koenig noted that while the Vaca Muerta hydrocarbon development remains a primary driver, employment is diversifying into construction and commerce. The province also reported significant growth in exports and leads in automobile sales and supermarket growth.
Governor Figueroa emphasized a strategy of economic transformation through investment attraction, specifically supporting the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI) to remain competitive with global LNG exporters like the United States. He also addressed political alignment with the national government, noting a productive dialogue despite different political affiliations, while seeking guarantees for Patagonia's gas subsidies.
