Argentina conducts widespread CPR and sudden death prevention training

During the Week of Sudden Death Awareness and Prevention, various regions in Argentina are conducting intensive training programs in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED).

In Neuquén, 150 police cadets received training organized by the Asociación Neuquina de Anestesia, Analgesia y Reanimación (ANAAR) and CALF Salud. In San Salvador, municipal programs are targeting sports clubs to prepare staff and athletes for medical emergencies. Other initiatives include community workshops in Tolhuin and Corrientes, with the latter organized by FleboGen and the Fundación para la Prevención de la Muerte Súbita.

Medical experts note that approximately 40,000 sudden death cases occur annually in Argentina, with over 70 percent happening outside of hospital settings. This underscores the critical importance of the “chain of survival,” which includes recognizing emergencies, calling for help, performing chest compressions, and utilizing an AED to improve outcomes before professional medical services arrive.
