Argentina corn cycle shows unprecedented harvest and planting overlap

Argentina is experiencing an unprecedented timing gap in its corn cycle. While the 2025/26 harvest has reached 98% of the suitable area—with an estimated final volume of 64 million tons—over one million tons remain to be harvested in the southeast and southwest of Buenos Aires and southern La Pampa.

Simultaneously, the planting of the 2026/27 corn crop is already underway, having covered 11.1% of the projected area, which is above the historical average. In Entre Ríos, planting has reached 58.3%. However, lower surface moisture in the core Pampean region is beginning to affect the pace of work.

In the Rosario market, corn prices have remained relatively stable at approximately $295,000 per ton. While international demand, particularly from Asian countries, remains a key driver, exporters are currently prioritizing soybean origination due to better global commercial opportunities. Logistics and transport costs continue to be influenced by infrastructure and weather conditions.
