Argentina corn market sees price rise amid export demand

Argentina’s corn market is operating on its own logic, largely detached from the fall in international CME futures. Local prices edged higher, with the average price of corn available in the north of Gran Rosario reaching 463.965 $/tonne (181.1 US$/tonne) on Thursday, up slightly from the previous day. Futures on the A3 Mercado for June 2026 settled at $182 /tonne and July 2026 at $178.5 /tonne, while the CME contract fell 0.8%.

Export shipments increased, with 730,599 tonnes declared on Thursday after 473,640 tonnes the day before. The current harvest covers 48.2 % of the national area, projected to yield 32.2 million tonnes out of an estimated 49 million tonnes. Logistics and transport infrastructure continue to pose challenges for moving the grain.

Analysts cite steady overseas demand and generally favorable weather as supporting factors, but warn that sudden changes in rainfall or temperature could affect future production and prices.
