Argentina country risk rises amid bond declines and IMF mission

Argentina's financial markets have faced significant pressure, with the country risk indicator climbing to levels between 524 and 543 basis points. This rise reflects a general decline in sovereign bonds and local stocks, including the S&P Merval index, which recently fell below the 3 million point mark.

Amidst this volatility, Economy Minister Luis Caputo held meetings with investors in New York at JP Morgan's headquarters to discuss economic continuity and debt repayment capabilities. Simultaneously, an International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission arrived in Buenos Aires to conduct a technical review of the existing economic agreement.

External factors have also contributed to the local market's instability. Decisions by the US Federal Reserve to maintain high interest rates have increased the attractiveness of safer assets, putting additional pressure on emerging market debt. In the currency market, the peso remains near its 52-week low, with the wholesale dollar trading around 1,514.
