Argentina court orders return of Nazi-looted painting

An Argentine court has ruled that an 18th-century painting stolen by Nazis during World War II must be returned to the descendants of the original owner. The painting, titled ‘Portrait of a Woman’ by Italian Baroque master Guiseppe Ghislandi, was discovered in an Argentine real estate advertisement at the home of the daughter of a high-ranking Nazi official.

The restitution order mandates that the artwork be returned to the heirs of Jacques Goudstikker, a Jewish art dealer from whom the piece was originally taken.
