Argentina courts hand sentences in two separate sexual abuse cases
In Tierra del Fuego, a 51‑year‑old man accused of repeatedly abusing his biological daughter faced a trial in which two older offenses were declared prescribed under the 2011 legal reform. The court could only consider a single charge of simple aggravated sexual abuse, for which prosecutors requested a three‑year suspended prison term.
In Bahía Blanca, another defendant was convicted of aggravated rape of his stepdaughter, a minor between 13 and 15 years old, for acts committed between December 2021 and September 2022. A popular jury sentenced him to nine years in prison, a term lower than the prosecutor’s original request of fifteen years.
